In response to the National Ecology Day (NED) 2024 Launching Ceremony cum Symposium by the HKSAR Government, Tung Chung New Town Extension (East)  Volunteers Team "Builders" collaborated with " Western District Junior Police Call (JPC) " to conduct a workshop on "Engineering and Ecology Conservation" workshop for conveying the message “Ecological Conservation Begins with Me”.

“Builders” guided the participants on visiting the Tung Chung Community Liaison Centre and Tung Chung East Office. Through a variety of interaction, participants learned about the history and development of Lantau Island, as well as the eco-shoreline constructed by CEDD, and know more about the small creatures that inhabit in the eco-shoreline.

With the guidance of “Builders” and instructors, the participants actively engaged in the activity of making ecological fish tanks. Throughout the process, we emphasized the importance of balance between engineering construction and ecological protection.

The participants expressed that the workshop was interesting and practical. We believe that education is the key to foster an appreciation for nature among the young generation and enhance their awareness of ecological conservation.
